Many athletes learn at an early age that being an athlete is a lot like life. There are trials and tribulations daily at practice, workouts, games, and away from the grind in their personal lives. Some of this pain can be self-inflicted from decisions, or non- intentional unforeseeable events such as a knee injury. These adversities create setbacks and, in many cases, can break the most mentally tough athlete into pieces. Finding the bravery to keep going is not easy, its not something you just do. Contrary to popular belief, there aren’t many examples where athletes are able to come back and perform at a high level after unfavorable circumstances. Tiger Woods is one known example of this, where an athlete falls from glory and rises from the ash in one lifetime and lives on to tell the story.
